The name "BennyN" does not resound in the canon of contemporary composers. But who can deny that to listen to this MP3 of his "Glengarry Mix" is to know a small kind of compositional and comic greatness? A few years ago, Benny N, a DJ, mixed dance beats and effects with David Mamet's precise and rhythmic dialogue from "Glengarry Glen Ross." In the movie adaptation, frustrated real-estate salesmen are incarnated by actors whose voices express several species of neurosis, from the bark of a Pacino or Lemmon to the purr of an Alan Arkin: "What can you do if you do not have the leads? If you do not have the goddamn leads?"

What is Mamet up to nowadays? He might toast the Criterion Collection DVD release of his movie "House of Games." Just last week was the debut of his most recent play, "November," on Broadway. It stars Laurie Metcalf as a presidential speechwriter (in a New York Times article she discusses her career). The play's website is a spin on presidential campaigning.
